![]() ![]() Did I tell you that I love BEDS? This bed was so comfy that I had no problem letting my people sleep on it as well. What a nice room! Clean and a very, very, very comfortable BED. Did I tell you I love dog COOKIES? So we went to the room. They let me stay and even took my word that the two people with me were okay to stay as well. When we got to the Home 2 Suites, the people were really nice. I don't think I can go back to the dog hotel again after staying at the Home 2 Suites in Abilene. We came to Abilene to help my human brother check into his apartment at Abilene Christian and I went along for the RIDE! Normally, my people check me into a dog hotel but this time, I went along on the trip. My people took me (Danya, a dog) on a neat car RIDE! Did I tell you I love RIDES? Anyway, this was the longest RIDE I ever took and it was fun. Thank you for your customer service, Bobbi, and the rest of the staff of this hotel!… Because my stay at the Abilene Home2Suites was positive, I'll consider staying at this chain again in another community down the road. There weren't many restaurant options near the hotel, but I was very happy with meals/experiences at both the Lytle Land and Cattle restaurant on the south side of Abilene and the Beehive restaurant downtown. Regarding the breakfast items, the tropical mango water provided alongside the juice options is terrific! So refreshing and different - I loved it! The coffee was also good and readily available throughout the day, along with ice water, in the lobby near the entrance. I realized my error when I was checking in, and she adjusted my rate to ensure I was charged for one, not two. I also appreciate her being able to reduce my room rate somewhat, since I was traveling by myself - I apparently accidentally made the reservation for two people. I appreciate the assistance Bobbi (sp?) gave me when I checked in, as she was able to assign me to a room in the late morning, even though I arrived in the late morning and the official check-in time wasn't until 3 p.m. Had my timing and the weather been right, I would have enjoyed relaxing with a drink and something to read to while away an hour or so on one of the outdoor lounge chairs. The outdoor furniture near the front entrance looked inviting, along with the fairly minimal landscaping. I wish the bathroom had an exhaust fan to dissipate the steam and humidity, but that's a rare feature in any hotel. Two minor comments - I liked the large dispensers of shampoo and shower gel, mounted in the shower, but it would be nice if there was an additional dispenser of conditioner. The room seemed clean, fresh and up to par. I did, however, like the plentiful counter space that came with this room. I really didn't need the kitchenette aspect of the room, as I had no need for the fridge or microwave. I feel I made the right choice for me, as I found the hotel "checked the boxes" for what I was looking for, especially since I've not very familiar with Abilene. I chose this hotel because it seemed to receive a string of generally positive reviews concerning cleanliness and safety, and it's a fairly new hotel, too. I'd not stayed at a Home2Suites hotel anywhere before this, so I didn't know quite what to expect. I was traveling by myself and was in town for a funeral. I stayed at the Home2Suites in Abilene, Texas, for two nights in early June.
